The girls and I have been doing some lovely crafts this Valentines, as to be honest we love any excuse to get crafty. So we thought you may like to see what creations we made with simple materials we had in our craft cupboard or that we up-cycled from around the house.
PATTERNS WITH PULSES
So simple, yet so effective. These can be gifted as decorations, added to the front of a card or hung up as a mobile with driftwood. Cut out your love hearts with thick cardboard, paste over with glue, place your pulses in any pattern you like and wait to dry. Once dried, simply paint and you have completed your masterpieces to turn into your preferred gift.
What you need
NATURE WANDS
Get out into nature and collect some leaves and flowers. Press them in a FLOWER PRESS or let them dry for a few days. Then cut out a love heart in cardboard, paste over with glue, break up and place your pieces of flowers or leaves and stick them to your shape. Once dry, glue or tape the heart to a stick to make a nature wand.
What you need
TWIG ART
Simply go into your garden or out for a nature walk and collect some sticks and twigs. Let them dry in the sun a little. Cut out a piece of card of any colour of your choice. The using scissors you need to cut them at different lengths so you can make your shape. It’s a bit of trial and error until you find the shape you like, all before adding glue! Then paste some glue (we just use non-toxic white glue for everything), on to the back of each stick and place the sticks on your card. You can pop it in a frame like we did or turn it into a valentines card.
What you need
STRING PEN POTS
This one is completely Daisy’s creation from start to finish. Wash out an old used jam jar. Find some string or wool that you have at home or you can buy some in the dollar stores and away you go. Paste glue on the jar, then wrap string around until you get to the end. These make gorgeous valentines or gifts for any occasion.
To add decoration, we bent some wire into the shape of a heart, wrapped some twine or wool the shape and added some dried flowers.
