Sustainable Activities for Kids Parties

Ensuring our kids understand the need for sustainability

When I was a child, I loved going to parties and playing all sorts of fun, outdoor games!

The best part of playing games at these parties was that we could play practically any game we wanted in the great outdoors without a care in the world, and have the best time of our lives.

Now that I am a parent myself, I want my girls to experience the same outdoor games and having fun at their parties. The best part about getting your little ones to play outdoors is that it is a sustainable, healthy activity that allows your children to play in nature with friends and family whilst staying active and engaged. For all parents out there needing some fresh ideas to get kids away from the TV and outdoors,  here’s a list of sustainable activities for your children to play at their next party!

Who doesn’t love a good scavenger hunt? Children are generally very curious individuals, and a scavenger hunt is exactly what they need to pique this curiosity. Plus, you can use our sustainable DIY kits such as our nature hunt kit or our ladybird rocks kit to assist in your scavenger hunt.

How can you use these kits for a scavenger hunt?

This kit contains a board filled with different items from nature. The kids can go around hunting for these natural items as they compete against each other to see who completes finding every item on their board first. Better yet, once the boards are complete the kids can just rub off the chalk on their boards and begin the scavenger hunt all over again.

This kit is absolutely perfect for a scavenger hunt. First, the kids can have fun painting their ladybug rocks. Then the parents can hide the rocks, and give their kids clues on where to find the rocks for more scavenger hunting fun.

This timeless activity for kids is a personal favourite of mine! I have so many memories from when I was younger strategising with my friends on how we were going to steal the other team’s flag. To make this game even more special you can have each team create their own flag with our botanical bunting kit. With this kit, kids can create beautiful bunts decorated with leaves and flowers, which they can then use as unique flags when they play capture the flag.

Organising sustainable, outdoor activities for children at their parties or whenever friends come over is a great way to start teaching your child the necessity of taking care of the environment. By ensuring our kids understand the need for sustainability, we are at least assured that they will take the necessary steps in maintaining the natural environment they grow up in.

We hope the next time you are hosting a party for your kid, you will include some of these activities as well!
